Carol has experienced homelessness and knows firsthand the difficulty of seeking shelter. Carol plans to address the homelessness crisis by expanding affordable housing and building shelters and transitional homes out of abandoned homes in the 159th.

Carol also wants to fund social programs and mental health treatment to help those who are or are at risk of being homeless. In addition, Carol wants to provide a pathway to homeownership for young adults in the 159th.

Policy Highlight

Thanks to legislation Rep Kazeem voted for, the Tax/Rent Rebate Program was expanded in 2023 to assist more people in affording basic necessities and staying in their homes. Specifically, the maximum rebate amount is now $1000, up from $650 in 2022.
